A wireless wide zone network is a wireless network that generally covers a large zone, such as between cities and neighboring cities, or cities and suburbs. This network can be used to link business branch offices or as a gateway to the public Internet. The wireless connection between entry points is generally a point to point microwave link using a parabolic dish on the 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz bands, not the omnidirectional antennas used with smaller networks.
