What is Juniper Ex Qfx?
Juniper actually has 3 series for switch devices, ranging from Juniper EX series, Juniper QFX series up to Juniper QFabric System. Juniper Ex Qfx series itself also consists of several variants, starting from Juniper EX2200, Juniper EX2300, Juniper EX3300, Juniper EX3400, Juniper 4200, Juniper EX4550, Juniper 4600, Juniper EX8200 and Juniper EX9200. And this time we will discuss the smallest series in the EX series family, the Juniper EX2200. Juniper EX2200 itself is intended as an economical solution for access switch devices with low density levels. Juniper EX2200 is very suitable to be placed in the wiring closet area or with an open area placement model for enterprises that do not have wiring closet facilities. Juniper EX2200 itself has a very low noise level so that its placement outside the wiring closet will not interfere with the workers in doing their work.
The advantages of Juniper EX2200 from Juniper Ex Qfx
Juniper EX2200 from Juniper Ex Qfx is a layer 2 switch equipped with basic layer 3 capabilities. Called the basic layer 3 switch capability because Juniper EX2200 is only equipped with static routing and RIP capabilities on a base license. But with the addition of enhancing license, the Juniper EX2200 is able to perform layer 3 switching capabilities such as OSPF, Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP v1 / v2 / v3), Independent Multicast Protocol (PIM), IEEE 802.1 Q-in-Q, Bidirectional Forwarding Detection ( BFD), Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) and Virtual Router / VRF-Lite. As an entry level switch in the EX series, Juniper EX2200 is equipped with features that we can usually find in the middle series of other manufacturers’ outputs, such as stacking capability – or in Juniper referred to as a virtual chassis. But the application of this virtual chassis uses an uplink port, so that the uplink port cannot be used as an uplink connection to a distribution switch or core switch.
Model Juniper EX2200
Juniper EX2200 from the Juniper Ex Qfx series itself consists of 4 models with variations in the number of ports as much as 24 and 48 gigabit ethernet ports and PoE options as a complement. Following are the models available on the Juniper EX2200 series; Juniper EX2200-24T-4G, Juniper EX2200-24P-4G, Juniper EX2200-48T-4G and Juniper EX2200-48P-4G. The PoE standard owned by Juniper EX2200 itself includes 802.3at and 802.3af which support power requirements of up to 30 watts per port. As we know that some access point devices with 802.11ac wave 2 standard require very large power, so Juniper EX2200 can certainly be able to meet the power requirements needed by these devices. Juniper EX2200 is also equipped with an uplink port (and at the same time a port for stacking or virtual chassis as previously described) as many as 4 ports with SFP connector.
