DESCRIPTION

F5 F5 Network Firewall –  provides policy-based access control to and from address and port pairs, on and off your network. Using a combination of contexts, network firewalls can enforce rules in a number of different ways, including: at the global level, on the route domain, at the per-virtual server level, for standalone IP addresses, or for port management. Firewall rules are combined in firewall policies, which can contain multiple contexts and address pairs, and can be applied directly to any context except management ports. The rules for the port management context are defined inline, and do not require a separate policy. By default, the Network Firewall is configured in ADC mode, the default allow configuration, where all traffic is allowed through the firewall, and any traffic you want to block must be specified explicitly.

The system is configured in this mode by default so that all traffic on your system continues to pass after you provide Advanced Firewall Manager ™. You must create appropriate firewall rules to allow the required traffic to pass before you switch Advanced Firewall Manager to Firewall mode. In Firewall mode, the default reject configuration, all traffic is blocked through the firewall, and any traffic you want to allow through the firewall must be specified explicitly.

About firewall Mode

F5 F5 Network Firewall provides policy-based access control to and from address and port pairs, on and off your network. By default, the network firewall is configured in ADC mode. This means the default allowed configuration, where all traffic is allowed to the virtual server and independent IP addresses on the system, and any traffic you want to block must be specified explicitly. This only applies to virtual servers and standalone IP levels on the system.
